A hot pen moves across the grain, and every line is committed the moment it’s made. There’s no undo, only attention, adjustment, and letting the mark become what it becomes.
Fire is the oldest tool we have and the first light we were given. It warmed the hearth, gathered people in the dark, and marked the turn of the year. Here it does the same work, carrying designs into unique pieces.

Pyrography 101: The Basics of the Art of Burning Things
No experience needed. Get to know the basics of wood, find a piece that speaks to you, and learn to control a burn. You’ll leave with a finished piece you burned yourself.
What You’ll Make
- A finished keychain, bookmark, coaster, or ornament to take home. You choose.
- Wood basics: how to pick a piece and read its grain
- Heat control: clean lines and smooth shading
- Transferring a design to wood, so no drawing skills are needed
- Finishing with acrylic paint
- What to look for in a starter tool, so you can keep burning at home
